Silver
Lining Herbal Equine Supplements has been in the making for over
thirty years. Mickey Young (owner), was an eleven time qualifier
for the National Finals Rodeo as a contestant, seven times as
a stock contractor and one time as a pick-up man. The only man
in history to complete such a feat over the years, Mickey placed
over 60 saddle horses, bucking horses and bulls at the world's
most prestigious rodeo, the NFR. The secrets behind all of his
success are the products that Silver Lining now offers to the
public. Silver Lining believes in simply replacing the nutrition
that has been taken away, through time, from our horses in order
for them to perform to the best of their ability. Many years
of hands-on experience has helped Silver Lining formulate extremely
beneficial supplements to help horses receive the nutritional
edge they need to compete at the highest level.
The concept
began with Mickey's father who grew up in close proximity to
the Navajo Indians, where he spent years learning a great deal
about medicinal herbs from them. Mickey's father is also a rancher
and worked for the Bureau of Land Management for over 20 years
as a range rider. Part of his training was to be able to identify
the different species of vegetation that grew on the range. Therefore,
he learned which plants could be used for medicinal purposes
and which ones could not. These teachings were then passed on
to Mickey, therefore all of Mickey's life has been spent nourishing
his parent's cattle, and his own performance horses and bulls
with herbs. Silver Lining has literally been in the making for
years, and now they have made their proven, herbal combinations
available to all of those who care about the nutrition of their
horses.
Currently,
Silver Lining Herbal Equine Supplements are used by some of the
world's most reputable equine vets, chiropractors and dentists.
In addition Silver Lining serves as a daily building block to

Product List: |
#11
Brain Cool
Code:11
|
 |
|
For horses with EPM this
is an excellent nutritional supplement that helps strengthen
and rebuild the damage to the central nervous system. We like
to recommend that it is used in conjunction with the #13 Herbal
Wormer, as the protozoa that causes the neurological damage in
the CNS is a parasite and is dispelled by using this combination.
We also like to use the #30 Digestive or the #29 LCR with these
herbal combinations, as the parasite is thought to access the
CNS by way of lesions in the intestinal tract. Therefore we need
to address the healing of the digestive tract. The last part
of the EPM puzzle fits neatly in place when we rebuild the immune
system with the #24 Immune Builder. that helps strengthen and
rebuild the damage to the central nervous system. If your horse
has known damage to the CNS, for whatever reason, the #11 Brain
Cool will be of help to you.

#12
Feet Relief
Code:12
|
 |
|
For horses with calcium
deposits in the feet, navicular, side bones, ring bone or generally
any number of difficulties that are associated to the bony structure
of the feet or lower extremities. If you are dealing with the
soft tissue, such as the laminae(as in founder etc.) you should
consider the #23 Laminae Relief.
|
|
|
#13
Herbal Wormer
Code:13
|
 |
|
The healthy alternative to the synthetic wormers that are currently
on the market. This combination is designed to change the favorable
environment of the parasites and worms and cause them to try
to relocate in another part of the horse. However, in as much
as the herbs are in all parts of the horse, via the blood stream,
there is no favorable environment. Therefore they evacuate the
system. By keeping the digestive system healthy and clean, the
parasites can not re-establish. This product is fed at the rate
of 1 tbs. per day for seven days one week a month. It is safe
to feed to mares that are nursing foals and to weinlings and
young horses. This amount is based on horse weights from 1,000
to 1,300 Ibs. (more or less if desired).

|
#14
Mare Fertility
Code:14
|
 |
|
This combination was
designed to balance the hormonal system of the hard to settle
mare. It has helped them produce a strong follicle and in many
cases a mare that has not been able to conceive can be settled.
This mix is also used to help the mare or filly that is having
troubles with the hormonal imbalances and causing her to be hard
to deal with when she is cycling. Some examples of this are irritation
when being hauled, ornery around other horses, and not working
as well as you know they can work. We have seen many instances
when a hard to deal with mare has become soft and sensitive with
the use of this combination.
|
|
|
#15
Fertility Boost - Stallions
Code:15
|
 |
|
Often times the stallion
that has been found infertile because of low sperm count or the
stallion that has lost interest in covering mares can be brought
back to top production with the proper nutrition. This combination
is designed to supply the reproductive organs with that, much
needed, nutrition. This mix can also be used on the young horse
that is forgetting his training when he is around mares. You
will see him become more manageable.
|
|
|
#16
Power Dust
Code:16
|
 |
|
This is the one to use
when you have the open wound. If the wound is fresh and moist,
it will stimulate circulation and tissue growth by simply sprinkling
the dry poultice mix directly on the open wound and then wrapping
with a vet wrap. Leave it covered in like manner for 12 hours
and then remove the bandage and wipe clean with a clean cloth.
Reapply the poultice powder and leave exposed to the open air
for 12 hours. Continue this cycle until wound is completely healed.
If the wound is dry or scabbed over, you can make a poultice
by mixing a small amount of water to a measured amount of the
powder and applying the poultice directly to the wound and wrapping
with a sweat bandage. This too should be done for 12 hours on
and then 12 hours off with the dry powder put on the wound while
the bandage is off. Keep on hand in your medicine chest for those
emergencies.

#17
Colic Ease
Code:17
|
 |
|
If you don't have a twisted
intestine or impacting you can expect to walk your horse out
of his colic discomfort in about ten minutes. Simply put two
scoops (2 tbs.) of the Colic Ease in a cup and add a small amount
of water to it until it becomes a paste, then paste him on the
back of the tongue. Walk him until he is moving freely. If you
do not see favorable results within about ten minutes you are
probably dealing with something other than simple colic. If you
have a horse that is a chronic colic victim you should consider
feeding him something on a regular basis to regenerate the flora
as well as the intestinal integrity. The #30 Digestive is a specific
for this cause.
|
|
|
#18
Joint Support
Code:18
|
 |
|
Feed when you are having
a problem with the joints, or when you are wanting to prevent
joint problems. Many horses need this specific herbal combination
when they are showing discomfort in the kidney area(approximately
where the back of the saddle fits on the back).
|
|
|
#19
Blood Cleanse
Code:19
|
 |
|
Use this mix whenever
you have a blood oriented issue, or if you know the blood to
be toxic. Many times things like sarcomas, blood warts and tumorous
type growths can be dissipated using a nutritional supplement.
This is a good one for those times.
|
|
|
#20
Keep Cool
Code:20
|
 |
|
If your horse has the
ability to win but will not settle down, mentally, long enough
to prove it to the spectators, this is the mix he or she needs.
If you have to spend more time loping circles and then your cutter
cannot keep up with that "hot" cow, this is the mix
you use. If that race horse will not go to the starting gates
or load without a fight, or if your barrel horse will not give
you that good look this is the one to use. Nervousness and excess
excitability are the indicators for this combination. You can
either feed this mix as a part of your daily feed regimen, by
feeding 1 tbs. per feeding, or you can make a paste the night
before the competition and the morning of competition and paste
him with it. If that is how you choose to do it, use 2 tbs. each
pasting.
|
|
|
#21

Code:21
|
 |
|
If you notice that your
horse is not seeing as good as he should. If you are noticing
cloudiness, or if you are seeing cataracts, this is the combination
to use. Night vision can also be improved by feeding this supplement.
|
|
|
#22
Breathe Easy
Code:22
|
 |
|

to strengthen the respiratory system. Some indications that you
may need this mix are, shortness of breath, labored breathing,
coughing, or heaving, slowing down or weakening before it's time
to quit.
|
|
|
#23
Laminae Relief
Code:23
|
 |
|
This is the combination
for the soft tissue of the feet. You will generally see indications
for the use of this feed as a result of founder, laminitis, wind
puffs, etc. If you are dealing with the bony structure of the
feet you probably need to consider the #12 Feet Relief.
|
|
|
#24
Immune Builder
Code:24
|
 |
|
Any time the horse experiences
added stress, such as hauling, excessive work loads, dramatic
feed and water changes, cold, damp weather or trauma experiences,
the immune system can easily become deficient. If this happens
your horse is susceptible to the bugs that are present. He is
open and ready for anything that may be available to him in his
present environment. Generally the thing that will tip you off
that your horse needs this combination is his lethargic attitude.
He will be disinterested in his feed and water, or if he coughs
when you are warming him up and then quits coughing when he is
warmed up. The best way to approach this is to feed it for a
while before you are planning on exposing him to the stress.
He will then have a strong immune system, and the bugs cannot
find a strong hold with which to invade your horse. If the horse
shows signs of infection (mucous from nostrils, etc.) you should
also use #25 Infection Fighter in unison with this mix.
|
|
|
#25
Infection Fighter
Code:25
|
 |
|
This is the herbal answer
to the synthetic anti-biotic that kill all bacteria they encounter,
pro and anti alike. This infection fighter is made up of herbs
that are anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, as well as
having support herbs that are designed to evacuate the anti-bacteria
when they are picked loose ftom the system. Indications for the
use of this mix is when you have an obvious show of infection,
such as infection in an open wound, infection coming from the
nostrils or other openings, such as the rectum or vaginal tract,
eyes, ears, etc. Except in extreme cases this can be fed for
10 days and then discontinued for 3 days and then fed again for
3 days. At the first sign of infection you can feed 1 to 2 tbs.
depending on the severity of the infection, and the size of the
animal in question. After 3 days back the feeding off to 1 tbs.
for the remainder of the 10 days. At this point you should see
a recognizable difference. Discontinue for 3 days and then resume
feeding for 3 more days. At this point your horse should be pretty
much infection free. Have his blood checked if you are not sure.
|
|
|
#26
Thyroid
Code:26
|
 |
|
This is the combination
to use if you know that your horse has a thyroid condition. Things
that you can be suspicious of a thyroid disorder, are over or
under weight or swelling under the throat latch or the protruding
of the eyes.
|
|
|
#27
Liver
Code:27
|
 |
|
Indications for the use
of this combination are a soreness at the liver meridians. You
often times will notice an almost defensive attitude, from the
horse, when you touch him or rub him too hard on the right side
by the last rib. This horse will, most generally, not want to
work as hard to the right as he will to the left. These are the
outward signs of the need, but the liver is a filter for the
blood and if the liver is not working properly the blood is being
recirculated without being properly cleansed. Therefore the toxins
are not being properly filtered and the horse is suffering at
the cellular level.
|
|
|
#28
Pituitary
Code:28
|
 |
|
The Pituitary or the
"master gland" is responsible for some of the bodies
intricate functions, such as hair growth, lactation, and growth.
It also controls the growth of the thyroid and helps to trigger
thyroid hormone release, as well as bring about muscle and bone
growth. An inability to shed the hair is one visible sign of
a possible pituitary problem. A competent veterinarian would
be best suited to diagnose this condition for you. This product
was also designed for horses with Cushing's Disease.
|
|
|
#29
LCR
Code:29
|
|
|
Sometimes horses develop
an ulcer from the stress that they are placed under in our high
stress environment. When this happens, you must start the healing
process by controlling the diet generally, an ulcer is the product
of a high acid environment. One way to alleviate this is by feeding
on a regular feeding schedule and by reducing the high acid feeds,
such as alfalfa. We also need to reduce stress. This combination
is designed to nutritionally support the healing process, as
well as soothe the digestive tract. $55 per 1lb. bag
|
|
|
#30
Digestive
Code:30
|
 |
|
The digestion is of optimum
importance to the welfare of any animal. If the intestines are
working properly you will have less of the life threatening problems
that are prevalent in the horse world today. Horses that tend
to colic are horses that should be fed this supplement to help
their digestive system start working better. It does not need
to come to the point of the actual colic. Horses in the wild
eat their fair share of sand, for instance, and very seldom ever
colic from sand, because they have available to them the digestive
herbs that keep their system working properly. The same holds
true with a domestic horse, if it is fed the right ingredients
to promote healthy digestion. That is what this combination of
herbs is designed to accomplish. It also contains herbs to dissolve
entrolyths and break down mineral deposits.

|
|
#31
Moody Mare
Code:31
|
 |
|
For the mare that is
not dealing with her heat cycles like you would like to see her
deal with them. Help her through these times of great discomfort
and get back to winning or enjoying your ride.
|
|
|
#32
Bleeder
Code:32
|
 |
|
For the race horse or
barrel horse that is bleeding after hard work, this combination
has been very effective. It is designed to open air passages,
regulate the blood flow and strengthen veins and arteries.
|
|
|
#33
HRP
Code:33
|
 |
|
Generally speaking, the
horse that has been diagnosed with herpes will do very well when
fed this mix then follow up with the #24 Immune Builder.
|
|
|
| |
#35
Lymphatic
Code:35
|
 |
|
The lymphatic system
works closely with the circulation and the blood. One of it's
chief jobs is to help evacuate toxins from the body, and to supply
lymphocytes to the bloodstream. The lymphatic system is comprised
of a fine network of capillaries, thereby going all throughout
the body. This system is subject to the same problems as are
blood vessels. When lymph vessels are blocked, fluid pools and
the area swells. When you see these indicators, or when you have
had a veterinarian diagnose the problem, that is a good time
for this nutritional supplement. This one needs to be fed with
whole oats, as the lack of silica is part of the problem, and
the oat contains good amounts of silica.

#37
Kidney
Code:37
|
 |
|
We see a lot of horses
that are needing this combination. It is Silver Lining's
opinion that the reason for this is the high proteins that we
have grown accustomed to feeding, as well as the toxin building
feeds that we have been feeding i.e. corn, molasses, rice bran,
high protein alfalfa, and yes, even pasture grass. Horses that
are put out on lush grass without regard for over grazing are
very susceptible to grass founder, which directly effects the
kidneys. Of coarse, a lot of these problems will be compounded
by the lack of exercise. Some of the outward signs you may notice
is a soreness over the kidney area on the loin, or about where
the back of your saddle goes on a mature horse(1000 Ib. Approx.).
Swelling, or stocking up, in the ankles and fetlock areas, swelling
over the loin, horses that are not wanting to stop hard or are
jumping out of their stops, water retention, that is manifested
by the presence of soft lumps and swelling anywhere on the horse.
These horses will greatly benefit from the use of this kidney
supplement.

|
|
*Notes:
You may notice that we have indicated the feeding of most of
these combinations in whole oats. We are an advocate of the whole
oat. Among the many great qualities of the whole oat are, the
fact that they start in the mouth, with the teeth and gums, by
helping to keep the hooks, corners and sharp edges broken off
of the teeth and the gums pushed back, thus reducing the probability
of a sore mouth. They then massage the throat and esophagus as
well as add oxygen to the blood stream, which will increase the
horse's endurance and air capacity. They then promote peristaltic
action in the digestive tract while adding silicon to the benefit
of the feet and bones. They will then aide in the cleansing action
of the colon and rectum as the lucky few who will escape to feed
the sparrows. Though you will see a few whole oats that come
through the horse in the manure, you don't need to worry, they
are usually relatively few in number and they have done their
job. The exceptions are the horse that has a stomach disorder,
like an ulcer, as the whole oat may be too harsh on the lesions.
In this case the whole oat can be replaced with the rolled oat.
Also the younger colts (up to about one year old) should be given
the rolled or crimped oat until it's system gets strong enough
to handle the whole oat. Silver Lining's supplements combined
with a healthy feeding program will provide important natural
nutrients to build your horse's system and keep him in top performing
condition. Our natural nutrition prevention and healing program
ensures you that your horse is getting the proper nutrition to
prevent a diseased horse and promote natural health. The West
Nile Virus is definitely a threat to your horse's health. Silver
Lining's feed supplements will build up your horse's immune system
and help him resist this disease without chemicals. Silver Lining's
28 formulations of natural human quality herbs are designed to
be combined with your care and feeding program to provide proper
nutrition and health for your equine and maintain his top performance
